It also comes with a higher risk of dying early. Now, a study has estimated just how large that risk is. In the research, people with bipolar disorder were 4-6 times more likely to die prematurely than people without it. By contrast, people who had smoked were about twice as likely to die prematurely than those who had never smoked.
