                        <p><h2>ABSTRACT</h2>
<h2>Background</h2>
<p>The performance status (PS) is an indicator of a cancer patient’s ability to perform everyday activities and plays a key role in oncology. Research suggests that the documentation of PS scores in electronic health records (EHR) is deficient.</p>
<h2>Methods</h2>
<p>We analysed PS score documentation (Karnofsky or ECOG/Zubrod/WHO) in the hospital, consultation, and multidisciplinary team meeting (MDT) records of patients newly referred for a cancer at a large, public, multisite hospital system, between 1 January 2019 and 1 June 2021. We developed a regular expression (RegEx) to automatically identify PS in documents and assessed what patient and hospital characteristics were associated with PS documentation.</p>
<h2>Results</h2>
<p>Our RegEx achieved accuracy, and weighted- and macro-average F1 score, > 0.95 for all document types. We included 68,479 patients. 35% had a documented PS between −90 and +365 days of their first ICD-10 cancer code. 18% of MDT reports contained a PS score.</p>
<p>In multivariate analysis, without accounting for metastatic status at diagnosis, odds ratios (ORs) for PS documentation in patient files varied by cancer type, from 0.47 (95% confidence interval: [0.42; 0.52]) for genitourinary to 3.30 [3.00; 3.61] for lung cancer, and hospital, from 0.27 [0.23; 0.33] to 3.38 [3.14; 3.63]. Male patients were more likely to have a documented PS (OR = 1.08 [1.04; 1.13]), as well as older patients. The number of each type of document was positively correlated with the presence of a score. When adding metastatic status at diagnosis, the OR for metastatic status was large (3.29 [3.13; 3.46]), but associations with other covariates were not noticeably affected. Documented PS close to diagnosis was associated with poorer 1-year survival (25% of patients with PS died within 1 year, vs 12% without PS).</p>
<h2>Conclusion</h2>
<p>PS score documentation was variable and generally low. Improved documentation is required if EHRs are to be used as a source of real-world data.</p>

<p>Objective: Although hybrid teams are increasingly common, little is known about the relational dynamics through which leadership emerges in such settings. Drawing on social identity construction theory, particularly the claiming–granting perspective, this study investigates how relationship- and task-oriented behaviors contribute to leadership emergence in hybrid contexts and whether these effects depend on virtuality. We further examine follower perceptions of warmth and competence as proximal cognitive mechanisms underlying early leadership recognition. Method: The study participants were 188 university students in Indonesia, most of whom were female (79%) and between 18 and 20 years old (70%). They were randomly assigned to small teams to complete a management simulation task under low- or high-virtuality hybrid conditions. Relationship- and task-oriented behaviors were coded by trained observers during the team interactions. Team members subsequently rated one another on perceived warmth, competence, and leadership emergence using established measures. Results: While virtuality did not moderate the relationship between leadership-claiming behaviors and initial leadership emergence, relationship-oriented behaviors predicted initial leadership emergence indirectly through perceptions of warmth, and task-oriented behaviors predicted initial leadership emergence through perceptions of competence. Conclusions: These findings locate leadership emergence in followers’ evaluative processes rather than in behavioral enactment alone, highlighting how early leadership claims are provisionally recognized in hybrid teams characterized by fragmented interactions. By demonstrating a neutral role of virtuality and clarifying the cognitive bases of granting, this study extends relational theories of leadership emergence and offers a more nuanced account of leadership emergence in contemporary hybrid work settings. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2026 APA, all rights reserved)</p>

                        <p><h2>ABSTRACT</h2>
<h2>Objective</h2>
<p>This study examines patterns of informal and formal shared parenting—and potential disconnects between the two—comparing divorced and never-married parents.</p>
<h2>Background</h2>
<p>Existing research on shared parenting—where children spend time with both parents—largely focuses on formal shared placement among divorced parents. Less is known about shared placement for never-married parents, and little research exists for either population examining extended time with children (informal shared parenting). A framework recognizing administrative burden suggests differences may exist, reflecting greater burdens in establishing formal shared placement for never-married compared with divorced parents.</p>
<h2>Method</h2>
<p>Data are drawn from the 1994 to 2020 Child Support Supplements (CSS) to the Current Population Survey (CPS) using a sample of divorced (<i>n</i> = 15,284) and never-married (<i>n</i> = 14,911) custodial mothers. Trends and levels of formal shared placement and informal shared parenting are documented using descriptive statistics and multivariate logistic regressions.</p>
<h2>Results</h2>
<p>Divorced and never-married parents have similar likelihoods of informal shared parenting; yet divorced parents have twice the likelihood of a formal shared placement agreement. A sizable portion of never-married parents are spending significant time with their child, but this is unlikely to be formally recognized.</p>
<h2>Conclusion</h2>
<p>Formal and informal shared parenting time is increasing for both divorced and never-married parents. Overlooking measures of informal shared time risks disproportionately underestimating contributions of never-married noncustodial parents who are more likely to be fathers of color with limited economic resources.</p>
<h2>Implications</h2>
<p>As more families share parenting time, differential administrative burdens by marital status in establishing formal shared placement may exacerbate inequalities.</p>

                        <p><h2>Background</h2>
<p>The transition from primary-to-secondary school significantly impacts students’ well-being. However, existing research provides limited insight into the long-term impact of school transition on well-being, and no studies have disentangled age-related changes from transition-specific effects. This study leverages a natural experiment, where an educational reform resulted in two different age cohorts transitioning simultaneously, to disentangle age effects from transition effects on student well-being.</p>
<h2>Methods</h2>
<p>This study analyzed longitudinal data from the Well-being and Engagement Collection census (2019–2025) in South Australia. Participants were two cohorts of students who simultaneously started secondary school in 2022: one transitioning at Year 7 and the other at Year 8. Well-being was measured across eight domains. Linear mixed-effects regression models examined transition effects and tested interactions with sociodemographic factors.</p>
<h2>Results</h2>
<p>A total of 20,910 participants (Male: 52.1%, Age in 2019: 9.7 ± 0.6) contributing 104,800 observations (5.0 responses/participant) across the 7 years were included. In the first 2 years post-transition, well-being experienced adverse changes across all domains (marginal effects for positively-worded measures: −0.44 to −0.18; negatively-worded measures: 0.08 to 0.13). The largest declines were observed in cognitive engagement (−0.44) and perseverance (−0.31). Younger and older cohorts experienced similar adverse changes; however, the younger cohort showed a larger well-being decline in the second-year post-transition. Females experienced more pronounced declines than males. The well-being decline among students residing in remote and very remote areas persisted until the third year after the transition.</p>
<h2>Conclusions</h2>
<p>School transitions negatively affect students’ well-being, with impacts that persist for more than 2 years. This decline was largely attributable to the school transition rather than age-related progression. Females and students residing in remote areas experienced greater declines in well-being than their counterparts. These findings highlight the need for transition-specific support strategies for vulnerable groups that extend beyond the first year of secondary schooling.</p>

<p>Unquestionably, with the increase in life expectancy, dementia has become a significant health issue in Down syndrome (DS). However, in at least a subset of these individuals, cognitive aging can be considered normal, with absence of dementia symptoms even in the presence of Alzheimer’s neuropathology. Therefore, it is essential to understand the complex interactions between risk and protective factors for dementia in this population. Studies are needed to address and elucidate those factors that may improve resilience against cognitive deterioration. Cognitive reserve (CR) is a theoretical construct proposed to explain variability in responses despite similar brain insults. Research addressing CR proxies in people with intellectual disability is limited; evidence is mostly derived from literature reviews or extrapolations from other populations. The present study aims to explore the association between specific proxies of CR and the occurrence of cognitive decline and dementia among adults with DS. Two complementary methodologies were adopted: a retrospective and observational study and a cross-sectional study involving aging adults with DS. Severe levels of intellectual disability and older age were associated with a higher prevalence of cognitive decline or dementia. We observed a correlation between some proxies of CR. Previous engagement in occupational activities was correlated with regular school attendance, and higher parental education was associated with increased literacy in individuals with Down syndrome. The level of intellectual disability was associated with cognitive decline. Previous engagement in occupational activities and regular school attendance were identified as factors that may be associated with the construct of cognitive reserve and deserve future investigation. Higher parental education was a potential parameter that appears to affect the literacy of their child with trisomy 21.</p>
