                        <p><h2>ABSTRACT</h2>
<p>Empirical research has demonstrated the pivotal role of leadership in implementing evidence-based interventions. However, little is known about the interpersonal factors that support or hinder collaboration between senior leaders, particularly in complex, multi-agency settings. This study explored interpersonal factors influencing collaborative leadership during the implementation of Multisystemic Therapy and Functional Family Therapy within the Pan-London Positive Families Partnership, a cross-borough initiative for children on the edge-of-care. Twelve senior leaders participated in semi-structured interviews. Reflexive thematic analysis identified two overarching themes: ‘the importance of a relational approach’ and an ‘adaptive and reflective way of being’, encompassing six subthemes. Findings highlighted the centrality of relational leadership practices, underpinned by psychological safety and informed by attachment principles, containment, mentalisation and adaptability. Leaders enacted strategies that mirrored interventions’ therapeutic ethos, fostering trust, supporting collaboration and buffering teams from systemic pressures. This alignment between leadership culture and clinical practice was critical for coherence across organisational layers. This study adds to evidence that relational leadership, underpinned by psychological safety, supports implementation and sustainment of evidence-based interventions in complex systems. By illustrating interpersonal processes, it reinforces the need for models that integrate attachment and relational dynamics to enhance leadership capacity and outcomes for young people and families.</p>

<p>This study evaluated the effects of a single training on the self-advocacy skills of five direct care staff working in a human service organization. A nonconcurrent multiple-baseline design across participants was used to evaluate the effects of a video-based behavioral skills training package. Participants received training on how to self-advocate in the context of two types of supervisor responses: (1) A supervisor responds positively to an employee’s issue but does not provide a solution and (2) a supervisor responds negatively to an employee’s issue but provides a solution. Results showed that the training increased self-advocacy accuracy to mastery levels during one target condition for all five participants and during both target conditions for three participants. In addition, all participants’ self-advocacy skills generalized to two untrained types of supervisor responses. Participants reported moderate to high levels of satisfaction with the training procedures.</p>

                        <p><h2>ABSTRACT</h2>
<p>Assertion perception is a critical cognitive process for how people evaluate misinformation. Although prior work has examined various textual contexts, less is known about how different types of responses shape assertion perception. To address this gap, we investigated whether threatening responses are more likely to be accepted than non-threatening ones. Drawing on research on assertion criteria and common weakly justified comments on social platforms, we conducted three experiments to test this effect. Across studies, behavioural and EEG (N400) evidence consistently showed that threatening responses were associated with higher acceptance. This study provides two contributions: (1) it identifies how response type influences assertion perception, and (2) it demonstrates the usefulness of EEG as a physiological indicator for studying assertion processing. Our findings illuminate the cognitive-neural mechanisms of assertion processing, provide novel measurement paradigms, and underscore responses’ pivotal role in propagating misinformation, offering anti-rumour intervention insights. Nonetheless, the study has several limitations—restricted ecological validity, a single cultural context, and limited generalisability. Future research should address these issues through more naturalistic designs, cross-cultural samples, computational modelling, and preregistered protocols.</p>

<p>This article explores the experiences of youth with disabilities in Saudi Arabia universities, focusing on their agency, activism, and navigation of exclusionary academic structures. Drawing on the concept of <i>Cripping the Campus</i>, the study integrates both quantitative (<i>n</i> = 510) and qualitative (<i>n</i> = 30) surveys to examine psychosocial outcomes and lived experiences. Youth participants reported challenges including cognitive fatigue, stigma, and dilemmas around disability disclosure, while simultaneously engaging in strategies of self-advocacy, peer solidarity, and collective action. We position this work as participatory and youth-led, emphasizing how centering youth voices contributes to social justice in higher education. Lessons from this study highlight the potential for youth-led activism to shift university cultures from mere inclusion to empowerment and demonstrate the radical possibilities of research conducted by and for youth with disabilities.</p>

                        <p><h2>ABSTRACT</h2>
<h2>Background</h2>
<p>Violence experienced by women has serious consequences for maternal and child health, generating short- and long-term damage.</p>
<h2>Objective</h2>
<p>The aim of this study was to evaluate the relation between violence experienced by women and the mother–child bond in the first 6 months after childbirth and on the child’s mental health at preschool age, mediated by stress, postpartum depression (PPD), breastfeeding and infant sleep. Participants were recruited from three public hospitals in the city of Porto Alegre (Southern Brazil).</p>
<h2>Methods</h2>
<p>This study is part of a larger research project with the objective to assess the reflex of different intrauterine environments on the child’s health. Five mother–child pair assessment interviews were carried out in order to identify the interrelation between violence and mother–child bond and the influence of this bond on preschool children’s mental health, mediated by stress, PPD, breastfeeding and infant sleep, tested using a path analysis model.</p>
<h2>Results</h2>
<p>From the 295 mother–child pairs analysed, 48.8% of the women experienced violence in their lives and 15.9% during their pregnancy. There was a statistically significant association among violence, stress, PPD, mother–child bond and externalization problems for preschoolers. Violence is correlated with the mother’s stress, which is directly linked to the PPD, and thus, indirectly, to the mother–child bond.</p>
<h2>Conclusions</h2>
<p>This study found that the violence experienced by women before and during pregnancy interferes negatively both in the mother’s health and in the mother–child bond, and the weakened mother–child bond can positively explain the externalization problems for preschoolers. Early prevention and identification of the occurrence of violence against women could avoid negative outcomes for the mother–child bond and behavioural problems for preschool-aged children, as well as in their future life.</p>
<h2>RESUMO</h2>

                        <p><p>
<st>Background</st>
</p>
<p>Older adults typically have higher sedentary behaviour (SB) and lower physical activity (PA) than younger adults. Studies on replacing SB with PA in relation to all-cause mortality in racially diverse older adults remain limited.</p>
<p>
<st>Methods</st>
</p>
<p>This study included 122 966 older adults from the China Kadoorie Biobank (CKB) and 207 212 older adults from the UK Biobank (UKB). SB and PA were assessed using baseline questionnaires, with PA classified as light (LPA), moderate (MPA) or vigorous (VPA) based on metabolic equivalents. Cox proportional hazards models and isotemporal substitution models were used to examine the associations between replacing SB with different PA intensities and all-cause mortality.</p>
<p>
<st>Results</st>
</p>
<p>Longer SB (per 30 min/day increase) was associated with a higher risk of all-cause mortality in both cohorts (CKB: HR 1.013, 95% CI 1.010 to 1.017; UKB: HR 1.012, 95% CI 1.009 to 1.015). PA of any intensity was associated with a reduced risk of all-cause mortality. In the CKB, replacing 30 min/day of SB with an equivalent duration of PA showed comparable protective associations (LPA: HR 0.963, 95% CI 0.958 to 0.968; MPA: HR 0.967, 95% CI 0.961 to 0.972; VPA: HR 0.965, 95% CI 0.960 to 0.971). In the UKB, replacing 30 min/day of SB with VPA was associated with the largest reduction in mortality risk (HR: 0.950, 95% CI 0.931 to 0.970).</p>
<p>
<st>Conclusions</st>
</p>
<p>Replacing SB with PA of any intensity was associated with reduced all-cause mortality risk in older adults, with variations across populations. These findings highlight the need for population-specific PA recommendations to promote healthy ageing.</p>

<p>We searched MEDLINE, Embase, CINAHL and SocINDEX (PROSPERO CRD42024540173) for comparative studies of morbidity or mortality from NCDs. Articles were assessed against predefined criteria to select studies that included people with experience of imprisonment; measured NCD incidence; compared incidence to a general population; and were conducted in a high-income country. Two reviewers conducted independent risk of bias assessment using an adapted version of the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale. Data were synthesised using random-effects meta-analyses and vote counting based on effect direction. Meta-regression and subgroup analysis investigated heterogeneity.</p>
<p>
<st>Results</st>
</p>
<p>Of 3085 articles screened, 32 were included providing 341 datapoints. Meta-analysis showed a higher risk of mortality from several diseases, including respiratory disease (risk ratio (RR) 2.38 (95% CI 1.18 to 4.80), I<sup>2</sup>=97%), cardiovascular disease (RR 1.80 (95% CI 1.32 to 2.46), I<sup>2</sup>=99%), liver disease and cirrhosis (RR 2.50 (95% CI 1.08 to 5.77), I<sup>2</sup>=99%), digestive disease (RR 2.92 (95% CI 1.09 to 7.78), I<sup>2</sup>=99%), neurological disease (RR 1.94 (95% CI 1.09 to 3.44), I<sup>2</sup>=92%), head and neck cancer (RR 21.31 (95% CI 4.32 to 105.14), I<sup>2</sup>=97%), liver cancer (RR 4.07 (95% CI 2.34 to 7.08), I<sup>2</sup>=94%), cervical cancer (RR 3.95 (95% CI 3.11 to 5.01), I<sup>2</sup>=0%) and lung cancer (RR 1.95 (95% CI 1.34 to 2.85), I<sup>2</sup>=0%). Synthesis without meta-analysis also indicated imprisonment was associated with increased morbidity from multiple NCDs.</p>
<p>
<st>Conclusions</st>
</p>
<p>Several NCDs, including multiple cancers, cardiovascular disease, respiratory disease and liver disease, are substantially more common in people who have experienced imprisonment compared with the general population, highlighting a need for primary prevention and NCD management.</p>

                        <div style="font-family:Helvetica, sans-serif; color:#494949;text-align:justify;font-size:13px;">
                        <p><h2>ABSTRACT</h2>
<h2>Background</h2>
<p>Hospitalization rates from nursing homes (NHs) have gained traction as pragmatic quality measures that can be derived from claims data. However, claims-based hospitalization measures do not account for clinical complexity and the extent to which they reflect quality of care or quality of transfer decision making is unknown. We aim to examine agreement between a claims-based measure of potentially avoidable hospitalizations and expert clinician review of transfer decision making and care quality.</p>
<h2>Methods</h2>
<p>We randomly selected 252 hospital transfers across eight Veterans Administration (VA) NHs, known as Community Living Centers (CLCs). Eleven expert clinicians independently completed Structured Implicit Reviews (SIRs) of medical records to assess: (1) whether the transfer decision was appropriate (i.e., hospital was the lowest safe level-of-care given the resident’s acute condition); (2) quality of care for evaluation or treatment of the acute change (adequate management of acute change), (3) quality of care for chronic conditions and preventing decline. We used VA Corporate Data Warehouse (CDW) data to determine a claims-based measure of potentially avoidable hospitalization.</p>
<h2>Results</h2>
<p>CDW data were available for 242 VA hospitalizations. The claims-based measure categorized 29 (12%) hospitalizations as potentially avoidable; only 2 of which matched the 20 SIR identified as inappropriate decisions to transfer. Furthermore, the claims-based measure flagged only 5 of 33 cases rated as inadequate treatment of acute decline and 6 of 17 rated as poor quality of chronic disease or preventive care.</p>
<h2>Conclusions</h2>
<p>In a geographically diverse sample of CLC transfers, independent clinical experts’ judgments of transfer decision appropriateness, quality of care for acute decline, and quality of chronic care differ from a claims-based potentially avoidable hospitalizations measure. Findings underscore the need for nuanced clinical consideration of hospitalization metrics for assessing quality and for understanding which aspects of care should be addressed to safely reduce NH transfers to hospitals.</p>
