                        <p><h2>Abstract</h2>
<p>There is no established guidance on how many days of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) assessments are sufficient to capture reliable and stable estimates of intraindividual mean (iM) and variability (intraindividual standard deviations [iSD]) in intensive longitudinal studies. Thus, this study examined the reliability and short-term stability of daily PTSD symptoms measured using the Primary Care PTSD Screen for <i>DSM-5</i> (PC-PTSD-5). Participants (<i>N</i> = 70, <i>M</i><br>
age = 30.44 years, <i>SD</i> = 12.78 72.9% female) completed the PC-PTSD-5 for 21 consecutive days before and after attending four intervention sessions. To examine reliability, generalizability coefficients assessing systematic consistency across days (Rc) and single-day reliability (R1F) were calculated. To examine short-term stability in each phase, we calculated reference i<i>M</i>s and i<i>SD</i>s from 21 days for the preintervention and postintervention phases. We used (a) correlation coefficients (stable: <i>r</i> > .80) and mean absolute differences (stable: < .25) to compare these reference estimates, with estimated values ranging from 2–21 days per participant, and (b) bias and agreement using Bland–Altman analyses. Results indicate that the PC-PTSD-5 yielded varying intraindividual variability estimates in the short term, Rcspre = .45–.67, Rcspost = .40–.55, but good single-day reliability, R1Fspre = .72–.78, R1Fspost = .77–.82. Assessing PTSD using the PC-PTSD-5 for 7–11 days could produce i<i>M</i> and i<i>SD</i> estimates comparable to 21 days. Overall, the PC-PTSD-5 was more reliable for capturing between-person differences than within-person fluctuations. Intensive longitudinal studies could use 7–11 days of daily PC-PTSD-5 assessments to capture stable estimates of average and variable PTSD symptoms.</p>

                        <div style="font-family:Helvetica, sans-serif; color:#494949;text-align:justify;font-size:13px;">
                        <p><h2>Abstract</h2>
<p>This systematic review synthesizes results from 93 studies analysing 1083 biology textbooks. Most studies focused on high school textbooks and originated from the USA, China, Spain, Germany and Sweden. Papers primarily addressed human biology but no research examined botanical or geological topics, despite their low attractiveness for students. Studies within human biology focused mainly on topics related to reproduction, gender differences, sexuality and health in textbooks published in North America and Europe and identified ideas supporting heteronormativity and stereotypical views of gender. Conversely, papers focused on the topic of health analysed textbooks from almost all over the world and those for high schools from selected countries in South America and Asia provided insufficient coverage of the risks associated with bad nutrition (e.g., obesity). A positive trend was the increasing amount of content devoted to environmental topics in recent years but textbooks do not sufficiently emphasize the importance of individual and social behaviour change in addressing environmental challenges. Studies of genetics chapters show that textbooks do not emphasize the influence of environmental factors on the formation of traits. Analyses focused on microbiology revealed a lack of information needed to protect the health of the population; for example less than 30% of textbooks contained information that antibiotics are ineffective against viruses. The textbook analysis also revealed that graphs and tables constituted only up to 8% of all visuals. These findings highlight the need for textbook authors and curriculum developers to avoid misconceptions, emphasize diverse perspectives and integrate visual tools that support conceptual understanding.</p>

<h2>Context and implications</h2>
<p><b>Rationale for this study:</b> Research on biology textbooks is extensive but fragmented across regions and topics. We are unaware of work aimed at understanding global patterns, key strengths and recurring gaps in biology textbook content.</p>
<p><b>Why the new findings matter:</b> By systematically reviewing 93 studies, this paper provides a global overview of what has been analysed, highlighting underrepresented themes, persistent misconceptions and areas where textbooks fail to reflect contemporary science.</p>
<p><b>Implications for researchers, curriculum developers, educators and policy-makers:</b> Researchers will get a clear map of existing literature to guide future studies and identify underexplored topics such as botany. Curriculum developers and textbook authors can use these findings to improve content accuracy, inclusivity and integration of visuals that support deeper conceptual understanding. Educators can recognize the limitations of current materials and design complementary strategies to address misconceptions. For policy-makers, the findings underline the importance of regularly updating textbooks to reflect current scientific knowledge and to better support biology education.</p>

<p>In 2022, the U.K. Ministry of Justice started fast-tracking veterans into the prison service to reduce the violence in British prisons. These ambitions rest on a fragile evidence base. Not much is known about ex-military prison personnel. Research on the psychological effects of previous military service remains entirely absent. Drawing on 38 semistructured interviews and observations in five English prisons and using Braun and Clarke’s reflexive thematic analysis, this study explores how deployment experiences influence ex-military prison personnel in their behavior and attitudes at work. In doing so, it expands our understanding of how external factors such as military service impact prison staff’s approach to their work and relationship to individuals in prison. Almost all participants reported increased levels of resilience which helped them stay calm during difficult incidents at work. However, my findings show that this resilience was not always authentic nor generalizable to all contexts of their lives. Over 30% of participants suffered from posttraumatic stress symptoms, especially in periods of rest. Additionally, repeated exposure to death and injuries during military deployments desensitized them to violence, leading to emotional disengagement from individuals in prison and a strict focus on discipline. Lastly, my findings show that deployment experiences can lead to a lack of empathy, especially regarding people in prison who self-harm. I discuss policy implications around mental health support for ex-military prison staff in the prison service and adjustments to prison officer training. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2025 APA, all rights reserved)</p>

                        <p><h2>ABSTRACT</h2>
<p>This article examines the reintegration experiences of Ukrainians who fled the country to the European Union (EU) following Russia’s 2022 invasion and subsequently returned while the country was still at war. Employing a mixed-methods approach—including surveys, semi-structured interviews and field observations in Ukraine—the study focuses on the experiences of returnees. By 2025, over 1.2 million Ukrainians had returned from abroad, predominantly women and children from the EU but also from other countries. Return trajectories varied: some returned shortly after displacement, motivated by a strong sense of belonging and sustained ties to Ukraine, while others remained abroad longer and encountered more complex reintegration processes. Most returnees resettled in their original regions, and many found employment quickly amid wartime labour shortages. Although patriotic sentiment intensified during displacement, trust in Ukrainian public institutions remained low. Return was often marked by a decline in life satisfaction and mental health, underlining the psychological challenges of reintegration under war conditions. The study highlights the urgent need for evidence-based reintegration policies that respond to returnees’ lived realities that are crucial for Ukraine’s recovery, resilience and social cohesion.</p>

<p>Most people who currently (79.2%) and formerly smoked (94.6%) supported the outdoor smoking ban when a safe interpersonal distance could not be maintained during the pandemic. Support for a permanent ban remained substantial (61.4% and 87.2%, respectively). Those who currently smoke were more likely to support bans during and after the pandemic if they had smoke-free homes (PR=1.11; PR=1.29, respectively), understood secondhand smoke harms to health (PR=1.40; PR=1.65), had tried to quit (PR=1.14; PR=1.30) and self-reported as healthy (PR=1.40; PR=1.47). Those who formerly smoked were more likely to support bans during the pandemic if they had smoke-free homes (PR=1.08) and did not self-report as healthy (PR=0.95); and after the pandemic if they had quit smoking for ≥6 months (PR=1.23) and used alternative tobacco products (PR=1.17).</p>
<p>
<st>Conclusions</st>
</p>
<p>Most people who currently or formerly smoked in Spain supported the outdoor smoking ban during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. This high acceptance suggests that the pandemic may have created an opportunity to strengthen tobacco control.</p>

                        <p><p>
<st>Background</st>
</p>
<p>Healthcare workers (HCWs) face substantial occupational hazards imposing significant physical, psychological and economic burdens on individuals and health systems. Despite extensive research, the reported prevalence of occupational injuries varies across professional groups and regions. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to estimate the prevalence of occupational injuries among HCWs in Türkiye—based on self-reported outcomes over study-specified recall periods—and inform preventive strategies.</p>
<p>
<st>Methods</st>
</p>
<p>This study followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines and was registered in PROSPERO. We searched MEDLINE (PubMed), Web of Science, ProQuest, EBSCOhost and TR Dizin using a standardised strategy. Eligible studies were cross-sectional of HCWs aged ≥18 years working in Türkiye. Titles/Abstracts and full texts were screened in duplicate, with independent, duplicate data extraction and reconciliation of discrepancies. Study quality was appraised using the Joanna Briggs Institute Checklist. Data from 19 studies (n=6301) were pooled using random-effects meta-analysis using R software. Heterogeneity and publication bias were assessed using I2 statistics, Egger’s test and the trim-and-fill method.</p>
<p>
<st>Results</st>
</p>
<p>The pooled prevalence of occupational injuries was 43.3% (95% CI 33.9% to 52.8%, I2=99.1%, p<0.001). Most used face-to-face surveys and included diverse HCW groups. Study-level occupational injury prevalence ranged from 7.1% to 87.3%. After correcting for publication bias, the pooled prevalence remained unchanged at 43.3%. Sharp object injuries and contact with contaminated fluids were the most frequent causes.</p>
<p>
<st>Conclusions</st>
</p>
<p>Occupational injuries remain alarmingly high among HCWs in Türkiye. These findings call for the implementation and strengthening of prevention strategies, including improved safety training, workplace safety protocols and policy reforms. Emphasising high-risk groups such as nurses and dentists is crucial for effective interventions.</p>

                        <div style="font-family:Helvetica, sans-serif; color:#494949;text-align:justify;font-size:13px;">
                        <p><h2>ABSTRACT</h2>
<h2>Introduction</h2>
<p>Resilience is present in both clinical and non-clinical populations; yet, there is a paucity of literature examining its role in bipolar disorder (BD). The goal of the present systematic review and meta-analysis was to substantiate the extant literature investigating resilience in BD in comparison to clinical and non-clinical populations.</p>
<h2>Method</h2>
<p>PubMed/MEDLINE, PsycINFO, and Scopus were systematically searched from inception to August 8th, 2024.</p>
<h2>Results</h2>
<p>Twenty-eight studies using a validated resilience scale with a total of 3094 people with BD, 4100 healthy controls, and 1768 with other mental diagnoses were included in the systematic review, and 21 were analyzed in a random effects meta-analysis. A statistically significant result with a medium effect (SMD = −0.787, <i>p</i> < 0.001) indicated that people with BD reported lower levels of resilience than healthy controls. Similarly, patients with BD showed higher levels of resilience than patients with schizophrenia (SCZ) (SMD = 0.336, <i>p</i> = 0.013). No significant differences were found between BD and major depressive disorder (MDD).</p>
<h2>Conclusion</h2>
<p>Findings should be interpreted with caution due to the high heterogeneity observed and methodological challenges in the definition and measurement of resilience. Future research should aim to better characterize resilience in BD by improving its assessment as a standardized element of clinical evaluation. This will provide a basis for strategies to reduce the burden of this chronic condition.</p>
