<div class="sec"><span class="bold">Background</span>
<p>Gender dysphoria is linked to various psychosocial challenges in adolescence, underscoring the need to identify and support youth experiencing gender-related distress. Although gender identity exists on a spectrum beyond the binary, no validated tool currently exists in Turkey that uses inclusive, gender-neutral language to assess it in adolescents.</p>
</div>
<div class="sec"><span class="bold">Aims</span>
<p>This study aimed to evaluate the psychometric properties of the Turkish adaptation of the Utrecht Gender Dysphoria Scale–Gender Spectrum (UGDS-GS) among clinical- and community-based adolescents.</p>
</div>
<div class="sec"><span class="bold">Method</span>
<p>A total of 240 participants aged 12–23 years were included. The validity of UGDS-GS was assessed through content validity and confirmatory factor analysis. Reliability was measured using Cronbachʼs alpha and test–retest intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC). A sociodemographic data form, UGDS, UGDS-GS, Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES) and Youth Self-Report (YSR) were utilised.</p>
</div>
<div class="sec"><span class="bold">Results</span>
<p>Findings demonstrated strong content validity, with a content validity Index of 0.69, and robust construct validity, indicated by a comparative fit index of 0.993 and a root-mean-square error of approximation of 0.071 following the exclusion of three items. UGDS-GS effectively differentiated scores across demographic groups, showing significant variances based on assigned gender and age. The scale also exhibited excellent criterion validity, evidenced by an area under the curve of 0.947 in receiver operating characteristic analysis, with high sensitivity (80%) and specificity (95.9%) at an optimal cut-off value of 42.50. With a Cronbachʼs alpha of 0.935, UGDS-GS demonstrated strong internal consistency and substantial test–receiver operating characteristic retest reliability (ICC 0.884), alongside notable but weak correlations with several RSES subscales and low to moderate correlations with YSR scores.</p>
</div>
<div class="sec"><span class="bold">Conclusions</span>
<p>These results affirm that tUGDS-GS is valuable and reliable in assessing gender dysphoria in Turkish adolescents. Further research is warranted to improve applicability in diverse contexts and populations.</p>

<p>Objective: Neuropsychological norms serve to identify cognitive impairment and monitor neurodegenerative disease progression. However, longitudinal data are limited, and conventional approaches do not account for biomarkers to exclude underlying Alzheimer’s disease (AD) pathology, reducing sensitivity to detect subtle cognitive decline in preclinical AD. To address these limitations, this research provides robust longitudinal neuropsychological norms derived from Spanish individuals with nonpathological levels of AD biomarkers. Method: We analyzed 3-year follow-up data from 350 cognitively unimpaired individuals (Alzheimer’s and Families+ cohort). A subset of 228 individuals with normal cerebrospinal fluid amyloid-β42/40, phosphorylated-tau181, and total-tau biomarkers defined the robust reference group. Neuropsychological assessment encompassed the Trail Making Test, Free and Cued Selective Reminding Test, Memory Binding Test, Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale–IV, Wechsler Memory Scale–IV, Semantic Fluency Test, and Judgment of Line Orientation from the Repeatable Battery for the Assessment of Neuropsychological Status. Using the Reliable Change Index and Standardized Regression-Based methods, robust longitudinal neuropsychological norms were derived from the reference group. Validation analysis assessed the sensitivity of robust versus conventional normative procedures. Results: Models, equations, percentiles, and cutoffs for identifying significant cognitive decline were provided. Robust norms showed modestly greater sensitivity in certain measures, particularly in episodic memory. The Free and Cued Selective Reminding Test: Total Free Delayed Recall showed the most notable result at the 5th percentile in Reliable Change Index (χ² = 16.06, <em>p</em> = 6.15E-05). Conclusions: Robust longitudinal neuropsychological norms may improve the detection of subtle cognitive decline, modestly enhancing sensitivity at the lower ends of distributions. <p><h2>ABSTRACT</h2>
<p>Evidence suggests that moving from specialist to generic nurse education, as is proposed in the United Kingdom and as has already happened in countries such as Australia, leads to a reduction in the quality of mental health nurse education and a weakening of mental health nurse professional identity. Meanwhile, research has found that mental health nurse professional identity is already complex because of the discipline’s multifaceted but objectively ambiguous role. The present qualitative systematic review aimed to explore mental health nurses’ perceptions of their professional identity. It was conducted in the form of a thematic analysis of qualitative data and was compliant with PRISMA reporting guidelines. Six databases (CINAHL Ultimate, EBSCO Medline, APA PsycInfo, APA PsycArticles, PubMed and SCOPUS) were searched in April and May 2024. The literature search yielded a total of <i>n</i> = 3710 studies. Following a process of screening using Covidence and quality appraisal using the CASP tool, a total of <i>n</i> = 23 peer-reviewed qualitative studies were selected for inclusion. Five themes emerged: (1) Professional identity formation, (2) The attributes of mental health nurses, (3) The mental health nurse role, (4) The unique skills and knowledge of mental health nurses and (5) Professional identity and the future of mental health nursing. This systematic review concluded that mental health nurses recognise their profession as being complex and difficult to describe; however, they remain positive and committed to their roles, recognising that the uniqueness of mental health nursing may become its defining strength.</p>

<p><h2>ABSTRACT</h2>
<p>Although previous research has examined the impact of stress on aggressive behavior, the underlying mechanisms remain insufficiently understood. In particular, the mediating roles of sleep quality and social bonds have received limited attention within the context of Chinese society. Drawing on data from 2140 Chinese high school seniors, this study investigates the relationships between stress, sleep quality, social bonds, and aggressive behavior. The results revealed significant associations: stress positively correlated with aggressive behavior and negatively with sleep quality and social bonds, while sleep quality and social bonds were negatively related. Moreover, multiple mediation analyses demonstrated that stress predicted aggression both directly and indirectly through the mediating effects of sleep quality and social bonds. These relationships remained significant after controlling for demographic variables. To further validate these findings, qualitative interviews were conducted until data saturation was reached, reinforcing the proposed mediation pathways and offering deeper insights into the mechanisms involved. The findings are consistent with general strain theory and social bond theory, suggesting that elevated stress and weakened social bonds, either directly or indirectly, contribute to delinquent behavior such as aggression. This study extends existing theoretical frameworks by emphasizing the pivotal mediating roles of sleep quality and social bonds and offers practical implications for reducing adolescent aggression. Furthermore, these research results underscore the importance of targeted interventions aimed at improving sleep quality and strengthening social bonds to mitigate the negative effects of stress on adolescent mental health and behavior.</p>

<p><p>The right to informed consent is a core ethical principle. Recent audits of patient information leaflets about electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), in Australia, England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, suggest that this principle is often not implemented, with efficacy being exaggerated and risks minimised. In the current study a convenience sample of 858 ECT recipients and 286 family members and friends, from 44 countries, responded to an online survey about their experiences of ECT, including the information they recall being given to them before ECT. Most (59%) of the ECT recipients reported that they had not been given ‘adequate information’ and a further 17% were ‘not sure’. For example, 63% of recipients recall being told that ‘ECT can cause temporary memory problems’, but only 17% that ‘ECT can cause long-term or permanent memory problems, 12% that ‘ECT can cause heart problems’ and 28% that there are ‘Risks from repeated general anaesthesia’. There were higher levels of recalling being told about definite benefits, even though some of these benefits are disputed. When asked to consider a list of items of misinformation, many recipients and relatives reported being told ‘Depression is caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain’ (58% and 53%, respectively) and ‘ECT corrects chemical imbalance or other brain abnormality’ (42% and 41%). Study limitations include potential sampling issues (eg, self-selection bias, snowball sampling bias, or other barriers to representativeness due to convenience sampling or network-based recruitment), as well as potential recall bias among survey respondents (last ECT treatment was between 1958 and 2024; average=2012.5). Nevertheless, these findings, in conjunction with previous studies, suggest an urgent need for greater efforts to ensure that patients and families are provided with comprehensive, balanced, evidence-based information when deciding whether to have ECT.</p>

<div class="sec"><span class="bold">Background</span>
<p>Insight assessment in psychosis remains challenging in practice-oriented research.</p>
</div>
<div class="sec"><span class="bold">Aims</span>
<p>To develop and validate a proxy measure for insight based on information from electronic health records (EHR). For that purpose, we used data on the Scale to Assess Unawareness of Mental Disorder (SUMD) and data from EHR notes of patients in an early psychosis intervention programme (Programa de Atención a Fases Iniciales de Psicosis, Santander, Spain).</p>
</div>
<div class="sec"><span class="bold">Method</span>
<p>Junior and senior clinicians examined 134 clinical notes from 106 patients to explore criterion and content validity between SUMD and a clinician-rated proxy measure, using three SUMD items.</p>
</div>
<div class="sec"><span class="bold">Results</span>
<p>In terms of criterion validity, SUMD scores correlated with the proxy (<span class="italic">r</span> = 0.61, <span class="italic">P</span> < 0.001), even after adjusting for the following confounders: type of psychotic disorder, clinical remission status and rater experience (<span class="italic">r</span> = 0.58, <span class="italic">P</span> < 0.001); and the proxy predicted good insight status (odds ratio 20.95, 95% CI 7.32–59.91, <span class="italic">P</span> < 0.001). Regarding content validity, the three main SUMD subscores correlated with the proxy (<span class="italic">r</span> = 0.55–0.60, <span class="italic">P</span> < 0.005). There were no significant differences in age, gender or other clinical variables, i.e. discriminant validity, and the proxy significantly correlated with validated psychometric instruments, i.e. external validity. Intraclass correlation coefficient (i.e. interrater reliability) was 0.88 (95% CI 0.59–1.00, <span class="italic">P</span> < 0.05).</p>
</div>
<div class="sec"><span class="bold">Conclusions</span>
<p>This SUMD-based proxy measure was shown to have good to excellent validity and reliability, which may offer a reliable and efficient alternative for assessing insight in real-world clinical practice, EHR-based research and management. Future studies should explore its applicability across different healthcare contexts and its potential for automation, using natural language-processing techniques.</p>

<p><h2>Abstract</h2>
<p>Prebunking can be used to pre-emptively refute conspiracy narratives. We developed a new approach to prebunking – <i>fighting fire with fire</i> – which introduces a plausible ‘meta-conspiracy’ suggesting that conspiracy theories are deliberately spread as part of a wider conspiracy. In two preregistered intervention studies, prebunking specific COVID-19 vaccine (Study 1, <i>N</i> = 720) and climate change (Study 2, <i>N</i> = 1077) conspiracy theories (e.g. that climate change is a hoax), with or without this meta-conspiracy framing, did not reduce beliefs in these specific conspiracy theories. However, some notable findings emerged. First, both <i>fighting fire with fire</i> and standard prebunking (Study 2) increased belief in plausible meta-conspiracies that questioned the original specific conspiracy theories. Second, across both studies, specific conspiracy beliefs negatively predicted behavioural intentions, while beliefs in meta-conspiracies positively predicted them. Third, specific conspiracy beliefs were negatively related to belief in plausible meta-conspiracies in both intervention studies (cf: Pilot Study). While this approach did not reduce specific conspiracy beliefs, it increased beliefs that were negatively associated with them and which were positively linked to behavioural intentions. We discuss these null effects and their implications for effective prebunking among conspiracy believers.</p>
