Source: U.S. News and World Report
Body dysmorphic disorder, or BDD, is a brain-based disorder that causes people to fixate on their appearance. Someone with BDD will be preoccupied with nonexistent or slight defects in their physical appearance, which causes significant emotional distress or significantly interferes with their daily functioning. While the cause of the disorder is not entirely clear, BDD is about 50% heritable, and it can strike men as well as women.

Source: ABC News - Politics
In 2022 Michigan voters passed an abortion rights amendment with a mental health exception for viability limits. Now, a Missouri proposal currently under consideration would allow lawmakers to restrict abortions after a fetus is considered viable, except if an abortion "is needed to protect the life or physical or mental health of the pregnant person." Similarly, a measure in Arizona has explicitly included a mental exception.
