<p>Current Sociology, Ahead of Print. <br>Given the continuing debate on whether women are less corrupt than men, this study investigates the socio-political context in which men and women give bribes based on the seventh round of the Afrobarometer multi-country data set. We also seek to understand how a country’s freedom status and gender equality level inform the extent to which women and men are likely to be involved in corruption. In doing so, the study focuses on the influence of gender status, the number of female legislators, gender equality, and political freedom on bribe-giving among men and women. Research results indicate that (1) women in Africa are less likely to pay bribes than men, controlling both macro-level and micro-level factors, (2) women are less likely than men to give bribes in countries with high gender equality, and (3) the tendency for women to give bribes is the lowest in politically free countries. However, the inclination of women’s bribery reached the highest level among countries with partial political freedom. This study extends the theoretical and empirical understanding of the context within which women are more or less likely to give bribes, especially in the global South.</p>

<p><span class="paragraphSection">In their well-written review of intimate partner violence (IPV) Thackeray et al discuss such issues as screening, assessment, advocacy, and collaboration.<sup>1</sup> However, their discussion of reporting contains one erroneous statement. Specifically, the authors state “Although IPV alone is not a situation for which health care professionals are mandated to report, individual states have differing requirements for reporting concerns of children exposed to IPV based on the age of the child, relationship of the child to the perpetrator of the violence, and physical proximity of the child to the violent act. Pediatricians should be aware of state laws regarding the mandated reporting of children exposed to IPV and how it may influence their practice of inquiry for IPV.”</span></p>

<p>American Journal of Evaluation, Ahead of Print. <br>The research-to-practice gap describes the well-documented phenomena of researchers and practitioners working in silos, embedded in vastly different contexts. This “cultural divide” has several causes, including ineffective collaboration, inadequate understanding of context, and insufficient dissemination and translation of research. Evaluation theory and practice have been largely absent from discussions about solving the research-to-practice gap, despite remarkable alignment between these efforts and the core principles and goals of evaluation. In this article, we describe why the research-to-practice gap exists, current models and frameworks to address the gap, and how evaluation aligns with, and extends, efforts to create a bi-directional bridge between research and practice. This article is a call-to-action for professional evaluators who are poised to narrow this gap given that they work at the intersection of research and practice. Through authentic collaboration, researchers, practitioners, and evaluators can leverage our collective strength to address the pressing challenges faced by our communities.</p>

<h2>Backgroud</h2>
<p>Despite the advancements in the rights of persons with disabilities in Western countries, the motherhood of women with intellectual disabilities remains scarcely visible. The approval of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (2006) and its subsequent ratification by the Spanish Government (2008) recalls the obligation to fulfil the rights of persons with disabilities to found a family (art. 23) and to choose who they want to live with (art. 19). While the importance of this legislation is undeniable, the personal experiences of women with intellectual disabilities still demand effective changes.</p>
<h2>Methods</h2>
<p>This article reports the results of a study entitled <i>Subjectivities and motherhood in women with intellectual disabilities. Reflections in dialogue through an inclusive research project.</i> In this study, we delved into the stories of 13 women, aged between 24 and 72, to learn about their motherhood experiences (before, during and after making the decision of being mothers) and to identify the barriers and supports encountered. Methods for data collection included individual semi-structured interviews, discussion groups and other narrative and visual resources (images and biograms).</p>
<h2>Findings</h2>
<p>This study explores in depth the obstacles identified by the participating mothers, which have been organised around six themes: (1) information and guidance on sexuality and family planning, (2) assistance of health services, (3) employment and housing situation, (4) child custody, (5) raising children, and (6) informal support. The participants encountered difficulties in all the above fields related to contextual factors. In other words, these barriers do not derive from individual issues centred on their disability, but from factors that often do not depend on mothers with intellectual disabilities, such as deprivation of socio-educational opportunities.</p>
<h2>Conclusions</h2>
<p>Our results show the nuanced ways in which these mothers were immersed in a social system that questions them as ‘good mothers’ and violates their rights. As we discussed, the participants’ desires and decisions to engage and/or continue with motherhood constitute an exercise of resistance to this system.</p>

<h2>Abstract</h2>
<p>This paper explores teachers’ conceptions of climate change knowledge, contributing to the growing body of work on the geographies of climate change. The paper focuses on the data generated through in-depth semi-structured interviews with a sample of 48 teachers in India to address the research question: What discourses about climate change knowledge are being constructed by teachers in India? We argue that teachers’ lesson planning and searches for information are at the forefront of the changing ways in which individuals engage with, find out and construct meaning about climate change. These teachers’ beliefs about climate change are very strongly held, even in the face of a perceived lack of expertise or understanding: climate change is described as the ‘need of the hour’, which this work understands as not only involving material impacts and processes but also important epistemological, collaborative needs through which education might contribute to public reasoning about climate change. Through this analysis we present a ‘certainty problematic’ as a heuristic device that foregrounds tensions between the inherent uncertainty of knowledge and (against climate denialism) certainty about anthropogenic climate change.</p>
